Naturland

Naturland and its partners at the BIOFACH 2017 from 15th – 18th February in Nuremberg

biofach2017 “Working together. Organic and fair trade.” This was the slogan under which Naturland and its some 170 German and international partners were exhibiting at this year’s BIOFACH. The theme being focussed on was the question of what contribution organic agriculture and fair trade can make towards achieving comprehensively sustainable development as defined in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals listed in the UN Agenda 2030.

At the BIOFACH Naturland provides a framework to discuss this topic – with visitors to the trade fair and politicians, as part of the congress programme as well as at the joint Naturland booth in pavilion 6. Many Naturland partners are also participating and presenting their contributions. Two panel discussions on the Thursday and Friday organised by Naturland and GEPA, a partner of Naturland, deal directly with the subject of how organic agriculture and fair trade can improve the situation of smallholders and what role development aid policy can play here.

Talk & Taste: new event format for Naturland Fair and Naturland Fish & Seafood

The new event format “Talk & Taste” which is presented several times a day at the show area on the joint Naturland booth in pavilion 6 combines indulgence with information. A small informal group of Naturland experts joined by Naturland partners or external specialists is available to field any questions asked about Naturland Fair or Naturland Fish & Seafood. A variety of topics and an opportunity to sample the products of the Naturland partners complete the format.

A total of over 50 Naturland partners at the joint booth demonstrate once again the unique product diversity of organic fair-trade products. Over 120 other Naturland partners are exhibiting their products in pavilions 1, 2, 4, 5, 7 and 9. Fourteen of the partners at the joint booth are certified to the Naturland Fair standards. Increasing numbers of businesses are using this supplementary certification, which was launched in 2010, to demonstrate their commitment to sustainable small-scale agriculture.

New partners at the joint booth – Naturland vintners at the World of Experience WINE

In 2017 there are once again a few first-time exhibitors at the joint Naturland booth, one of these being Gartenbauzentrale eG from Papenburg in Lower Saxony. This co-operative, which has a rich heritage, provides the trade with fresh locally produced herbs in Naturland quality. AOP Armonia supplies fruit and vegetables from Italian Naturland farms to the grocery stores, whilst Well Done GmbH from Munich procures pigs and cattle from local Naturland farms to produce its top-quality meat and sausage specialities.
At the presentation of “MUNDUS VINI BIOFACH“, the international wine award, Naturland vintners make headlines every year by the number of medals they win. World of Experience WINE (pavilion 7, booth 743) offers visitors an opportunity to satisfy themselves of the high quality of the wines produced by various Naturland vintners. Weingut Schloss Saaleck and Roth, two vineyards in Franconia, Seck in Rhine-Hesse and Schlossgut Hohenbeilstein in Wurttemberg are exhibitors at World of Experience WINE. Besides these, top Tuscan wines from Cantina LaSelva can be found at the joint Naturland booth in pavilion 6.

Naturland restaurant with top organic chef, Konrad Geiger

The Naturland Fairwöhn-Bar has become a popular meeting point in the midst of hectic trade fair business; on offer here are organic fair-trade coffee specialities as well as various savoury snacks and cakes. For those with a bigger appetite, top organic chef Konrad Geiger (Bio-Kontor 7) serves up a wide-ranging gastronomic menu in the certified Naturland Restaurant.
Pay us a visit at the Naturland information desk (Naturland Infotheke) in pavilion 6, booth 361, any day between 9.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. (Saturday to 5.00 p.m.). Besides this the following talks and events are taking place throughout the four days of the trade fair, either organised by Naturland or in which Naturland is participating.
