For the next possible entry, we are looking for a freelancer for supervison for our sustanaible capture fishery project an Lake Victoria.  The certification of sustainably captured and organically processed Nile Perch in Tanzania for the international market as well as the support of the local community have been a 10-year success story. Naturland sets the leading standard for organic aquaculture and combines organic and social responsibilities. Furthermore, Naturland developed requirements for sustainable capture fishery.Through strict adherence to the guidelines a responsible management of Nile perch stocks has been achieved.


Your tasks:

  • Contact person and project supervision at Lake Victoria for the Naturland Partners 
  • Regular site visits at Lake Victoria in Mwanza and Bukoba
  • Ongoing contact with the fishermen and processing companies
  • Development and contributing of quality assurance measures
  • Maintain contact with inspection bodies, administrative bodies and state authorities at the lake zone
  • Representing Naturland at official occasions with media and on-site meetings


Your Profile:

  • Professional background in fishery and/or social aspects in the region Lake Victoria
  • Master’s degree in agriculture / aquaculture science, biology degree or similar
  • Fluent in Kiswahili (preferably mother language) and business English
  • Familiar with the circumstances at the lake and the fishers ‘situation
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of certification, consultancy, quality assurance is desirable
  • Experience with office programs and digital photography
