Agritourism on the Rise

From olive groves in Tuscany to alpine meadows in Austria and apple orchards in Germany, farm holidays are increasing popular. Italy, in particular, has long considered agritourism a model of success, with thousands of agriturismi combining rural tradition with cuisine and nature. Family-run ‘Gîtes’ and ‘Chambres d’hôtes’ in France and ‘turismo rural’ in Spain attract travellers to regions with weaker economies. The concept is also in demand outside Europe: in the United States, ‘farm stays’ combine sustainable agriculture with authentic experiences, while in Japan, ‘green tourism’ is being used to revitalise rural regions. For many farms, agritourism provides vital additional income, while for regions it boosts local identity, creates new jobs and adds value. For the tourism sector, it offers a sustainable alternative to mass tourism.

The Naturland farm search tool

One of the most visited pages on the Naturland website, the farm search tool allows Naturland farms to showcase their unique services. The search function has now been thoroughly updated and improved. Thanks to the update, Naturland members outside Germany who rent out holiday homes, holiday apartments or rooms on their farms can now also present these via our 'farm search'. We invite all Naturland members engaged in agritourism to present themselves to German holidaymakers, and share the spirit of the organic movement with their new guests.

The farm search tool is a free service provided by Naturland and available on the Naturland website.

To register as a holiday provider on the Naturland website only requires 2 simple steps:

  • Complete the questionnaire linked here. Data protection is regulated in the questionnaire.
  • Send up to eight pictures to to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to give interested readers an even better impression of your destination. 

While the website is in German only, the holiday enquiry form can also be made available in English and may also be completed in English.
